| Motor Mounts? 1) How much do they help? 2) I'm guessing I need 2? and 3) What's the cheapest I can aquire some for?
I know SPS has some for ~$80 a pop, and Saturn Motorsports has the 'kit' for about $130... Are these mounts the same? The pics on the 2 sites look somewhat different, though the mounting place would be the same...
My main question is... Are they worth the money?

| Well, they're not necessarily worth the money if you don't have any aftermarket performance upgrades. But, eventually (w/ enough upgrades) the torque from the engine itself will become so great that that momentum from the crank is actually being transfered into rotational energy to the engine block, and thus causes the block to try to twist off of the motor mounts. Stiffer mounts will help prohibit this and thus keep more energy to where you actually want it.
yeah, you need 2.
both the SPS and SMS mounts look ok to me; I'd try to talk to your local performance shop before you buy from them, tho, cuz they tend to be overpriced. You'll also save money on shipping.

| well... good wrong answer.
stiffer motor mounts will help any vehicle, regardless of it's engine modifacations. the way you engine is set up, with it's crank inline with the axis of rotation of the wheels, the engine will, as sausageflip said twist.
motormounts will offer a substantal improvement in inital bite when starting off the line.
at this time twistec is selling their poly dogbones at $65 a set. |

| good old malice racing.. lol jackass to end lol funny as hell. hehe..
but he is right. stock or modfied you'll see improvment on take off.. and 80% of the time depends on which ones you'll notice alot more vibrations.
also just try window weld on the stock ones.

| I think he means just weld them to the block or whatever, but that sounds fairly dangerous and not very practical...I think I'm wrong, tho.

a window welded mount is stiffer than a stock mount but not as stiff as a poly-dogbone. for some people the balance is better, being a fair comprimise of vibration and performance. poly mounts will transfer more vibration. it's and unavoidable side effect.
for the ultimate in hard launches, (and as a side effect, the ultimate in teeth jaring vibrations) drill a 3/8 inch hole through the top of your torque axis mount, tap it and run a bolt into it. a $.75 solid motor mount. enjoy. |

| is it true that if u make the top enigne mount stiffer.. it puts undue strees on the eninge and can crack the timing chain cover?
