Default Performance Alternator, and AC/Elimination Questions

I was going to get myself a more powerful alternator before I install a new sound system in my car before summer and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where to go for it. I'd prefer something that also looks nice in the engine compartment.

Also, since Im from the north I wanted to eliminate the A/C alltogether (which is the older version of refrigerant anyhow and doesn't even work), but I was worried that I cant just eliminate it without some type of kit and/or changing belts. Has anyone here done this, and could you please let me know how and what I'd need.

Thanks a ton.
Matt

Ok let me see if I can Help you in any way. As for the alternator, I got mine off ebay w/ a guy who sells them for our cars. It is a very high output one and comes w/ the needed clip and even a larger guage power wire.

Check these out:

As for removing the A/C you are in Illinois I mean you do need it in summer. Why not just convert it to the newer refigerant. Otherwise, I don't know if they have a belt available for saturns w/out A/C, because don't they all come standard w/ it. Do you want to remove the condenser coil and compressor and lines? Or just the compressor? Maybe you could match up a belt for it? Good luck on that, and you can trust the alterstart guy on ebay just to let you know.

Thanks alot, I saw some of that on ebay but I didnt want to do any buying without the recommendation first...

I thought there were satties with no a/c?

Converting to the new refrigerant is like a few hundred dollars... not worth it.

the conversion kit is $35.00 on jcwhitney.com just to let you know it's not that much to do it yourself and it's easy. good luck on whatever you chose.

Every alternator place I talked to locally (when checking for a high output) told me a bigger battery would be more effective than a high output alternator for a big stereo system. Only problem is the battery size for our car doesn't come over 750 amps, that I have found so far.

i just replaced my battery that was in the car when i bought it 2 years ago which was prostart battery and is fine. i even tested it with a load tester and it was fine, but i guess with the beats bumping it aint that good bc my headlights usded to pretty much black out with the bass. i replaced my battery wit an optima red top and changed the configuration of the bass and trable and all and i have had no problems since with the headlights or anything....i also replaced the half farad cap woth a 1 farad cap
