If something is available that will improve the handling of my vehicle, and the price is right ($150 isn't too bad in my opinion), I'd recommend buying it if you can afford it (which it sounds like you can).

Who knows, maybe one day you'll be required to take a hard turn and the bar might just save you where the stock one would cause you to understeer.

Just like I feel that if I had better tires and a few other choice suspension modifications, I wouldn't have slammed Lindsey into a 3" high curb on Christmas Eve of '04.

you can buy it, and the brackets, whether you have an sl1 or whatever, that's what i'm saying here. i called my local saturn and they CAN install it (welding is availible but not neccesary shaolin). i also called up 3 dealerships in my bored stupor and they ALL said that the stock bar is a huge improvment over no bar at all, and to go from no bar to that super-bar is not worth it.

don`t care really if u can weld it or not.
but
say that you went to the junk yard and bought the bar for 50 bucks. Congrats, you just spent 50 on a bar that is still stock when u could put that 50 towards the purchase of an aftermarket high performance bar. hmmm

*if* 50 versus 150-200 for near same thing (if you're coming from no bar at all). wow.

"swainer: I think the aftermarket bar could be worth it for a serious track racer, but not for the average saturn driver"

apparently i'm not alone in this, if you're going from no bar to a bar, the stock one will help you 'perform' much better. if you have no bar, and are thinking of installing one, get a stock one and save yourself the money. however, if you have the money to blow, and know that you probably will never see/feel the difference, by all means, purchase and install it. just make sure you post pics, it's the saturnspot way. the end.

hahaha!!! wrd. i mean............if i had a DOHC, its definitely worth modifying. i also know if i had a DOHC, i'd been turbo'd right now
imo i think its smart to not spend alotta money on a SOHC. its not really worth it. i have a 02 SL1 auto. good enough i have a tower brace, AEM CAI, 2.25" exhaust, fart can, eibach drop springs, Gunmetal 18s and im getting the otto g3 reverse gauges off of egay this wknd. after that....im through.
