Default SL1 turbo?

I'm thinking about putting a tubo on my 2000 SL1. Anyone think this is a bad idea?

If anyone thinks it's a good idea, I have no idea what I'd need or where to get it. So if someone wants to help me out with a list of parts, where to get them (if you know), and possible price I'd really appriciate it.

Thanks!

NO! dont turbo your sl1 i think i heard once that a stock dohc was pulling more horses then a turbo sl1. get a engine swap, its cheaper. so yea

another question is it auto or manual?

NO.

Engine Swap - $100-400 if you do it yourself
$600-1500 if a shop does it for you.

Turbo - Reliable setup will run you $1500-3000 if you do it yourself.
Expect $5000+ for a shop to do it.

Now thats just terrible...

Yeah, DOHC > SOHC, and you can get away with putting a DOHC head on a SOHC block, not as good compression as a total DOHC but better than nothing. Not sure about the turbocharging abilities of a hybrid setup.

I do not see why a turbo SOHC can not pull more horsepower than a stock DOHC, there's no reason it can't unless a complete idiot built the car. It's not like 110 monsterous WHP that the 1.9 dohc puts out would be hard to get from a turbocharged car.

The "I heard this, I head that" BS from some moron forum guru gets old. I've seen dyno sheets from turbo and nitrous SOHCs and they have more HP than a DOHC does, and quite a bit more torque. What have you seen, besdies the hearsay from the cookie cuter bandwagoneers, g unit?

tacojoethethird, if you want more power I'd suggest trying nitrous first. It's a lot simpler to install than a turbo kit, and similar power results can be achieved. That way if you're not satiesfied, you can remove it and move on. If there's nothing wrong with your engine, it's retarded to tear it up for a few more HP. If you want something to trash on, get another car that way you have a backup driver.

Bad Idea: You wont make much power at all. Youre better off spending a bit and throwing in a dohc in there, and running a 50 shot of nitrous. Thats what i would do.
