Default Stupid question haha


What would i need to do to my 1997 SL1 (stock) to beat a 2002 Mitsubish Eclipse GT?
Like what engine swap, anything really haha

seriously.

it's got 200 horsepower, tiptronic if it's an auto, and a gearbox so crisp you'll have to see the mitsu emblem on the wheel to remember what you're driving..

i checked a GT spyder out just before i sold my satty, that 3.0 litre was a rocket on wheels..

My bro has an '02 Eclipse GT....i know of it pretty well.

well, dohc conversion. then save up about 5-7 grand for a turbo set up. while your saving, read everything you can about turbo's.

Anyway, first things first...

Define "beat the eclipse". Straight line quarter mile? Autocross? I'm guessing straight line. At any rate, DOHC swap is the place to start. Edmunds says that gen eclipse is mid-15's quarter mile, which is similar to Sx2s (DOHC), so the twin cam swap plus some bolt ons and tuning may be all it takes to beat the eclipse straight line if it's stock.
