One thing to consider is that road salt drastically reduces the life of those rubber parts. Here in Florida, I'm just stunned when I see a car from up north, with problems seen on Florida cars that are 50% older.

the worst is the "jersey humidity" here, it was like 95% humidity on a 94 degree day today, and the entire car (especially leather seats) are just seeping with moisture. that'll kill rubber parts pretty damn fast, especially when combined with hot underhood temps and changes in temperatures from the road surface and car body. woo-ee!

easier way than what?

set the car on jack stands. remove the wheels. remove the struts.

now, if you're using new springs and upper strut mounts, assemble them and install them as a unit. if not, you'll have to disassemble your old struts to get those parts.

once you get it all back together, go get an alignment...

that is all...
