| Once you change any springs on your car you'll need an alignment, although, I have to say, my alignment was pretty bad...always pulling to the left.....and once I put the springs on, I must have hit something, because before I got it aligned, I could let go of the wheel and it wouldn't pull either way.......just kept going straight. Yeah, you'll technically need an alignment every time you adjust them, but honestly, how often are you going to be adjusting them?

| the people that had hondas or acuras taht had the progress coilovers had problems with them adjusting on their own and constantly having alignments... but someone told me Saturns don't have that problem... just the way their suspension is i guess... |

| I know that I didn't have any problems with alignment when I dropped my Satty on the 2" Sprint performance springs.

| screw the coilover or springs get an airbag suspension set up. i know its gonna be expensive but just think about this...you go to a car show and with the touch of a button your car is laying flat on the ground and when you leave you can press the button again and raise it back to stock height. ive been researching about getting an airbag suspension setup on my SL but it's gonna be around $2500 or more. what you need is a air pressure gauge, air tank, 4 air struts, switch, compressor, and air lines. when you get your alignment done all you have to do is make a mental note of how many psi your gauge is at and then when you adjust your suspension always put it back to the psi setting when you got your alignment done.

| you won't really have alignment problems, it's just anytime you mess with your suspension like that, it has a tendency of becoming slightly mis-aligned.

| If you want coilovers get the Progress ones, yeah I know 1500 bucks. But if not I would stick with springs, I have heard from a lot of people that cheaper coilovers suck after awhile. It is not just from Saturns either, I know a lot of Honda guys that go to true coilovers after 2 sets of the cheapies. What a waste of money, get true or springs only.

| I've heard pretty much the same thing about coilovers. If yer gonna get em, the more you pay, the better the quality.

| suspension mods well i have the weapon r coilovers ( yes i am now learning that the threaded spool kind; like drop zone, arospeed , ground control and weapon r are just for SHOW) but i would say even thou they ride rougher then drop coils that everytime u adjust them u do not need an alignment its just when u take out the bottom strut bolts and i know a guy from our area ( spocpa) that has the progress set up and he had some problems with them , another has the carerra's and them seem to work just fine |

| I think it all depends on what you do with the car...
There are many different brands of coilovers out there, but I wouldn't use them for roadracing or autocrossing only because of the lack of true quality. For someone that is going to be using the suspension to the max, I think that a properly rated spring is the way to go.
Now I have heard that the Progress setup is made to quality standards and will hold up to the rigors of racing as do the Carreras...but the tradeoff here is the expense. If you are looking to get the most out of your suspension and want adjustability, these are the way to go.
For those that just want a coilover for show, I would go with the cheaper ones as they don't have to stand up to racing stress....
But again, I prefer springs. |
