thinking about doing a tranny switch in my sl2. i have an auto and one of two options : 1) sell the car, cuz the tranny is damn near gone, or 2) switch out my auto for a manual

..any suggestions?

How good are you with mechanical and electrical work?

What year is your SL2 and how many miles are on it already? Were it me, I would definitely swap the manual for a number of reasons, but the main one being that it is much more fun to drive.

What's wrong w/ the auto trans? the valve body going? cuz that's what happened to mine recently.

Finally if you're going to swap in a manual, try to find a junker (the car, not the tranny) that you can get for pretty cheap, and then swap in the manny tranny. Cuz if you plan on building a tranny from scratch or almost scratch, you're gonna end up paying more than the worth of the entire car.

it's a 97, i'm not really good with mechanical/electrical, i learn that stuff quik tho...i do have a friend who knows how to do all that, so i'd probably do it with him. it's got 120000, and the teeth on the gears are pretty much ground, so it slips a lot. i was really just looking for the tranny in its entirity, so i could swap em out... who's joey? thanks for the ideas

Joey owns 6th planet used parts out of Florida. You will see his ad's at the top of saturnspots site. He does great business and has great deals. e-mail him at sales@6thplanetusedparts.com and tell him what you are looking for and that you are from saturnspot and he'll hook you up
