Default aftermarket gauge problems

I see all these gauges on ebay that look really cool. Does anyone know if you have to yank the needles to get them on or do they easily fit on?

Also, does anyone know if the speedometer is gear or computer driven? I found gauges for my SC2 but they are for an SC1 (which is set up for SOHC). I want to re-calibrate my gauges. Thanks!

Yes, you have to remove the needles. Why do you have to recalibrate your needles? There is no need in it. Just take notes of where the needles are at before you put the other guages in and play around until you get them back into position.

Because the ones I want are set up for a SC1 which is SOHC and only goes up to 110MPH. The speedometer is different from my SC2's gauges.

What year SC2? Surely there is some guages made for your car. Besides, as long as you don't go past 110 they should be ok.

the hardest part is actually gettin the dash apart i thought...all u have to do tho is pop off the clear piece coverin the gauges and then you should be able to put in the gauges....to make it a bit easier you can also pop off the top of the dash......held in by to bolts in the center and then clips

you cant use the 110 speedo on a Sx2, the readings will all be off because where ours is marked 130 theirs is marked 110.
plus the tach will be off. again for the same reason.
it took me the better part of a day to hook them up. because i was spraying my cluster cover metalic blue to match the car. i had to do quite a bit of cutting to make them all fit correctly. but now that they are in you have to look really close to see the screw ups.
the only problem i had was taking the ODO reset pin out. i couldnt get it so i cut a small slit up to the hole and slid the guages on that way.
its easy to install the needles. i had an SAFC so i could match up the tach. and the speedo was easy because i knew how fast my car would go with just a clutch start (IE no gas, just letting the clutch out really slow) and that was 5mph.

I understand the problem with sl1 or sc1 gauges in a sl2 or sl2, but is there the same problem with sl2 and sc2 in a sl1 and sc1. Now obviously I understand the redline will be different then what the gauges say, but would everything else work correctly. See, what I want to do is put in the gauges with the oil pressure on them, and all the junk yards around me only seem to have the sl2's right now. Now, assuming the mph and tach would be incorrect because of how much closer they are written on the cluster, could you, in photoshop, take the mph and tach faceplate and put them in the sl2 cluster, and just leave the fuel, oil and temp part alone. Now if I have confused anyone, sorry, and if this sounds really stupid sorry again, I was just trying to think of an inexpensive way about doing stuff.
