| Battery Choice??? okay guys- im replacin my battery with one with a lil more oomph-
Gunna get an optima - but i need help--
The REd tops, are NOT DEEP CYCLE and have 800 COLD CRANKING AMPS
The yellow, is DEEP CYCLE with 750 COLD CRANKING AMPS
the red is designated "SUV and high power applicaitons"
but the yellow is designated "Audio / Video, Sport compact, etc..."
so which should i get? The deep cycle yellow would have a bad memory effect id think- its got a 1 year warranty, but the red wont have memory, and it has a 3 year warranty on it. Im thinkin i prolly should get the red top if it will fit. what do you guys think? |

| I was always under the impression the yellow top was for people running massive systems....
Get whatever color matches the engine bay, I've seen people running blue top marine batterys cuz it looks good.

| one thing i discovered is with optima batteries, you have to pick one with the right dimensions....they do offer a small red top for "compact" applications...a regular redtop wont fit in the original battery slot.

| hmm, was on their site... they dont warranty the red tops in a sport compact..... they will only do warranty on suvs/trucks/ and only if they dont have aftermarket audio components. |

| wow thats cool on the side. i got a red top and a few months after i bought it i saw another red top that had different posts. in my 95 SL1 they have it grounded in 2 spots, the block and frame, and the red top i have has the post terminals about 3 inches apart so im stretching the hell outta one ground wire. so far no problems, but im lookin to get rid of the red top i have now so i can get the correct one wit the terminals for GM connections further apart

| i came to a screen where you have to sign in.
ive never heard anything bad about optima, best battery out there. you can mount it in any way and you could just let it sit and bounce around and it will take all the abuse. i would say get the red top if you arent running alot of stuff, cd player small amp and maybe some other things, if alot of electronics, high wattage system, or something then get the yellow top. i also found, in a magazine, there is a optima group 31 and it features 1,125 cranking amps with 155 minutes reserve. |
