Default Dealer Parts Mark-up!

Well I just bought my new 2004 Vue V6 last week and wanted to get the rear cargo mat and bumper pad so that I would not hurt my new car when transporting things. So I went back to the dealer to get prices. I looked on www.saturnaccessories.com first and got there price and thought they will probably be about $10 more each because they do not have to ship the items. I was extremely wrong! The dealer wanted $73 for the Cargo Mat alone. I laughed and told him I could get it 1/2 price from another dealer on-line and he said have at it! What customer service! So today I ordered the Cargo Mat and the rear bumper cover with 2 day FedEx shipping for $84. I will never go to the dealer for anything I do not have to anymore! I mean what a rip off. They do not seem to care about there customers what-so-ever. Any thoughts anyone?

Well, i can say this.. cause i work at a dealer...
The prices that they quote are what GM says they should be... trust me, i can find the exact same part (mechanical) from an aftermarket company, for 1/3 of the price. even the regualr pricing, if you cannot get it after market, they have about 300% mark up, and what they say is your price, well, that could change the next day. it pisses us off cause we have to try and sell the stuff. and gm wonders why they aren't making any money HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

This is what I am talking about. How can a dealer in Texas charge so much but a dealer in Georgia charge half! If what the first guy that posted was true that they have to follow the GM specific pricing why is there a difference? Someone is not being honest at one of the dealers. But I can't wait for SaturnAccessories to deliver my stuff. I do not even want to tranport anything in my Vue until I get that stuff.

That is just typical, OEM decks usually cost a crapload, most of the stuff you buy aftermarket in the $200 range will usually blow the OEM stuff away.

the price you got from the dealership is the price installed. that means they take the price of the product and almost double the price then add in $20/hour labor and thats where you get ur ass handed to you. i used to work at a dealer, but as a salesman (boy did that suck) and they wonder why car dealers are scum of the earth.

i took my car there when i worked there for front brakes bc i was metal on metal and it cost $220 and they charged me $20 to clean and adjust the rears....im like WTF i didnt say anything about doin the rears. im glad they did tho bc it stops so much better

If that is true then they want almost $60+ to install a Cargo Mat and Bumper Cover! LOL Because that is the price difference! One snaps on, and the other just lays in place! What a rip off!

at least you can GET aftermarket parts at your dealership ROFL

all dealerships around me use SPS as there supplier I have YET to be able to get a single part from my car that I wanted. In fact I have to drive up and call saturn of cerritos so much that I am abouut to be sponsered by them as there car becuase I know the guy so well up there =)

Cerritos is about a 30 mins drive for me but it's worth it as they always get the parts I want/need and the guy doesn't charge me shipping becuase I give him a reason to order and have a part in stock for his QC =)
