Default guaging intrest on custom parts

alrighty saturn owners... I'm really bored and have acess to a welder so i ask you this...

I am creating my own tubular style intake manifold, and i know what you're thinking, and yes, i do have a lot of time on my hands.

But once i complete the design I will be bolting it on to the car and seeing just how well it would work. The manifold will be similar to the tubular styles that you see from Holley and Edelbrock that are available for Hondas and other various enemney cars. If I am indeed sucessful and can prove the power gains... would any one in the family be instrested in me making more of them??

I have no clue on price, mainly because i haven't started yet, but i can promise that it will be reasonable because i have buying expensive parts... I am also trying to plan out designs much similar to the exhaust manifold that Hotshot is attempting to come out with ( the 4-1 race style), mainly because i don't feel like spending upwards of 600$ on buying one from them... btw... anyone know if they patent their items??

I don't think they could actually "patent" a 4 into 1 header completely. I think they can only patent their specific design.

EG: there are a million companies making headers for smallblock Chev engines, and always have been. Many of them are very similar, but I don't think anyone's been suing anyone else.

If it would fit an SOHC I would be interested if you could keep it under $350.

LOL when the 4-1 comes out it will be all stainless steel, tig welded, dyno proven and get this... under $400.
Especially if I sell it... I won't list it for more than $399.

As for the patent, it's about $5000 to do and you can't utility patent something that is already patented. I.E. how a header works is already been done.
If you design patent it, then just one simple difference would make the two designed different.
There is no protection at all from copies in this industry.
I know it sucks, but that's the way it is..
