Default Obx Header Install...

okay guys i ordered and had installed this obx racing header and down pipe on my 93 SL2. Just picked the car up today...and...the guy told me the o2 sensor wont fit in it. So alright, i have service engine light on all the now. The guy also told me the header didnt fit exactly right and it needed to be flatend at 2 spots to have no rattles against somethin. I can handle that. Soi get the car back and i drive a while and i swear to god the car sounds like CRAP. its TERRIBLE....sounds like there is air spewing out of my car somewhere (i also has 2.25 catback installed.) But anyways i open my hood and you can hear it putting out some kind of air or somethin....not a constant hum. but its ridiculously loud and obnoxious...and sounds VERY airy...feels like its choking itself.

After all this what do you think is wrong? The header isnt tight enough? and isnt this header made for my car? what do i do about the o2 sensor?

Im taking it back up to the guy tuesday to complain and i wanna know if i have the right grounds and what to complain about.

(posted here since the other post went to hell)

if he did not install the O2 sensor back in the header, that is where you have a "leak." The bung it was meant to screw into is sitting there under the hood on the header open.

You for sure got a leak somewhere, I would get that all checked out to see if was put on properly. As for the O2 sensor, getting one for a 95 and up should work for you.

hey scott thanks for the help on the o2 sensor...

For the record i found the leak, its between the header and the downpipe where they bolt together...so im gunna give the people who installed it hell...everything else they did looks good and hopefully they will fix this minor problem with ease.

Again scott thanks for the o2 sensor help, gunna have to look into that.

Yeah, actually I meant to say 94 and up. But try that out, buy one, and if it doesn't fit just take it back, I'm pretty sure it will work. Just get one from a 94.

Seen that problem a million times. Check to see if there's a gasket in there at all. I've seen alot of aftermarket "installers" just decide since they don't have the gasket, they just don't put one in, and they just don't tell you about it either, so that might be the problem.

So the 94 o2 sensor is the same as the 93, i think you meant 95, because that looks like it will fit, its bigger then the earlier models.

Anyways would the 95 o2 sensor read the same as the 93? Like read the correct numbers and not cause a problem.

Also i was told that without an o2 sensor...the computer cant read how much fuel to dump in and it runs real rich and can mess up spark plugs ect ect...is this true? (the sensor costs 65 bucks and i would rather not use it if i can get away with it.)

Any comments would be appericiated.

That $65 is gonna look like nothing compared to the cost of the lost fuel economy from not having your O2 sensor. Don't cheap out on maintenance - replace it.

Will a 95 o2 sensor read the same as my 93 o2 sensor...meaning if i put the 95 in my 93, will it be alright and read just fine?
