Default Short throw?

Anyone know where I can get a decent short through that shifts a good bit faster and is shorter? I am looking for a good priced one... not those 200.00 ones that are the same as others. Shoot me links!

Take a dremel and chop the stock shifter. You'll shift faster because its shorter. True, it won't have a moved fulcrum point, but if you don't want to spend $$$$, you won't be able to get a real short shifter.

I cut my shifter down 3', just past the bend, and I tell you what, for the money you cannot beat it. I have driven a car with an "actual" short throw shifter, and there really is not that much of a difference except that the one you cut it does appear to be a tad stiffer. You get used to that in about 15 minutes anyway. I did not use a dremel, I need more power, I used a sawzaw. I just put a cloth around my center council and was done in about 28 seconds. You also dont need to buy a custom shifter boot unless you really want to, all you have to do is take off the plastic molding that holds the shifter up and open the hole a little, and if you want a different colored boot just go to "Jo-Ann Fabrics" and get the vinyl and do it yourself, it is only in 2 pieces. Pretty simple stuff that we all (I do me we all) can do ourselves.

I did about 3.5" off of mine.

I put a cloth over the bottom of the boot and held a vaccume right by the shaft and went to town with a Sawzall.

I love the damned thing.

Well what about treading the stem so you can put a new shifter on? I always had problems with those shifter knobs that you put 3 hex nuts in.... always came off.

Anyone got pics of their stick chop?

Cutting looks good and does offer a lil more on the fun factor side. But for true short shift the entire assembly is shortened and then you can get a short shift.

My shifter knob has the three hex bolts on it and I shift pretty hard and mine has not (yet) come loose.
