Default TEXAS MEET DATES!

Finally!

Here is the weekend dates for the Texas Meet.

As most of you know, we're shooting for a weekend meet, Saturday and Sunday, up near San Antonio, in Seguin to be specific. This way, the track is close by and hotels are plentiful as well and for most that would come, San Antonio is local enough to all to make the drive not too bad.

The dates are June 24th and 25th.

As explained earlier, here is what must happen as quickly as it can happen:

Now that the dates are announced, a head count must take place. I need everyone interested to email me at kurt@spacecentertireauto.com
and give me your name, your screenname here on this site (for those going and not on this site, your screenname from some other saturn forum, etc.)

The registration fee is $45.00 due asap!

This fee will be refunded to you once you show for the event. When you email me, I will respond with a number code that you will need to give to me at the event to make sure someone doesn't show up and say they are 'you' in order to get your fee. Since I've only met a handful of you and don't know you by name, you'll need this number so noone gets screwed.

Why is this fee necassary? Most of you who've rented rooms before know that if you make a reservation you can cancel it up to a certain amount of time out. If you don't cancel, and don't show, you quite possibly may have to pay for the rooms anyway. In the event you guys don't show, and I'm sitting on top of 30 rooms, well, you can see how my wife might not like me much at that point.

Also, this fee can be looked at more like an 'earnest money' in that it kind of keeps you serious about coming.

If you don't show for the event, I use the money to buy all those that did a round, or two, of beer.

I need a headcount for two reasons:

1) I will need to know what block of rooms I need to reserve and in order to be able to get the deepest discount available from the hotel. I need to know NOW so that I can make sure we get enough rooms at the same hotel so we don't all have to be scattered all over. Rooms will actually be put in your name once you sign in so that any damage, etc. that takes place, I don't pay for.

2) San Antonio raceway wants to know how many of us are coming so that we can possibly secure some private time on the track for some grudge matching between attendees. If we don't got enough people, we'll have to blend in with the V8's and so on.

The event will have a car show as well as a swap meet so bring your extra junk that you have and some cash to take it off someone's hands.

The event is open to all makes and models but keep in mind-I'm one person trying to facilitate this event. I do not have the time or desire to manage 200 people coming. The logistics for that amount of people own me.

So, lets get this thing going. Leave the excuses for not showing up at home and come out and have a great time with like-minded people and do some racing and showing!

If you have questions, ask me via email as this post should be used only for information and 'bumping'.

Also, let everyone you know on other forums about this event and the necassary steps to take.

Kurt
