highly possible, i don't know the details with her situation.

anyway, wouldn't doing the inside take care of the problem with clear coating them? again i'm pretty new to this whole thing and don't know if this is even 100% possible, just seems logical to me.

but if you do the inside then you gotta take out the light bulb housing (which is a b**** to take out, and then you gotta put it back together) and you need to take out the amber/red/whatever you're tinting/painting red out of the light itself, cuz if you paint the amber red from behind you're still gonna have a little bit of amber showing through and it's not gonna seem smoothly-done...

yeah, I know this was an old thread; I just couldn't resist.

some one just write up a good tech article already... i havent done this yet and if i did i would but i havent and im not writting a tech aricle on some thing ive never odne before.

ALSO!!! dont use paint thinner on your lights... it will melt the plastic(revenge is sweet)

get your phone book and find a automotive paint supply shop.... if you cant find one go to a body shop and askt them where the closest one is.

THen go there and get a surface prep agent. It specificly designed to clean the surface to be painted. BIGEST rule of painting any thiong on a car is surface prep.

If y ou can find a new book on painting cars read that too it will help. Just make sure its a fairly new book b.c. automotive painting have evolved like you wouldnt belive.

That is a GREAT write up. Some one needs to sticky this post or some thing. B/c its perfect.

Im tired of these great article getting lost amongst the crud.

So sticky or some thing, as long as the article is not lost.

Thanks. I spent 2 hours searching the saturn forums with nothing but vague descriptions. This took all of 2 minutes to find on the good old www.

I am currently doing it to my own car, blacking out the tails. I also blacked out the side markers, front and rear, as well

As far as prepping, all I did was rinse down the lights/side markers with some water, dried them thoroughly, then proceeded to apply the spray on tint. I used the VHT Nite Shades from Saturn Motorsports. I used 3 coats and it looks pretty good.

In Ohio, it IS "illegal" to have your tails tinted. So what I did was I bought some spare tails off of eBay for cheap in case I have any trouble. But the tint matches my headlight covers so I am very pleased. Light passes through perfectly.
