Your power steering pump is still in place in your picture. Remove it. Three bolts accessed through the holes in the PS pump pulley. Thsi will give you clear access to the nut that you need to get off to have the manifold come off.

All done! Thank you very much!
I've lost one nut. I'll get it from Autozone tomorrow.

thanks RC1488 ! you made this job a little easier than the haynes manual. I managed to do it no worries without rocking the engine forward. But beware kids the bottom nut on the passenger side is the kind you need an eyeball on the end of you finger to see. its definitely easier to access it with all 3 power steering pump bolts out and pump pushed out of the way.

to put nut back on i lowered nut on to stud with a magnet and reached around behind the intake with deep socket on a 3" extension to get the nut started.

thanks again RC1488

My thanks to RC1488 as well. My 02 was idling @ 2000 RPM and running rough. My #1 son diagnosed the problem in his high school autoshop class but was unsure he could do the repair himself until I showed him your excellent how-to article.

I supplied the parts, he did the work and the car is running like never before. (it had a minor misfire for about a year that we couldn't pinpoint until the leak got bad enough to affect the idle)

Thanks again.
