Default Burning Oil and Oil at the plugs....

I've got a 99' SC2 5spd 1.9Lt. with 197,000 miles on it. It burns a qt. of oil every 1000 miles and today I changed the plugs and there was some oil on one or 2 of them. Is there anyway to fix this without replacing the rings or tearing appart the engine? Also, I would like a list of all the ways you know of how to fix this so I can consider my options.

Thank you!!!

well i'm new with the Saturn terms, and stuff, I used to own a civic, replaced pretty much everything in it except the engine itself. So I know a thing or 2 but double checking never hurt, plus Civics aren't the same as a Saturn so it boggles my mind a little. I've only owned the Saturn for about a month or 2 and haven't started doing anything to it until now.

Valve cover, cam cover same difference.

It covers the cam (s) and the valves so you get to use either term.

When yo get oil in the spark plug wells then the valve cover gasket is leaking and should be replaced.
The oil burning.
Make sure that you don't have any other external engine oil leaks. Replace the PCV valve, OEM is the best way to go if you can--www.getsaturnparts.com. Beyond that it may just be due to age, lack of maintenance or abuse. Do a search of the Board for MMO soak or oil burning.
