Default A/C problem,please help!!!!

I was hoping any of you good people could help me put my finger on it.
I got '97 Sat. SL. first 30 seconds to 1 minute a/c blows cold air, after that air gradualy turns warm, while both the clutch and the fan stay on.
i suspect it to be some blockage in the liquid line/acumulator.does any one have any idea.
Thanks.

it may just be that you are out of 134a "coolant" if it gets cold but then turns warm. I would start there befor chacing a line issue down.

Welcome to the Board.

The key to diagnosing AC concerns is to know what the low and high side pressures are doing. If after cooling for a while and then going warm the pressures change with the temp change then you would have a problem with either the R-134 charge, the compressor, or the the TXV valve. It wuod be rar for a line to cause problems unless there is a history of other aC problems. If the line pressures indicate that you should have cold air then you may have a problem in the heater box.

tanks for your responces.
short of cheking the pressure i felt the low pressure hose next to the compressor and it was cold for that 1st minute.then it started to warm up and so did the air inside the car. Also i added about 1/2 pound of freon.but i guess that was not necessery, cuz i saw a cloud of gas coming out of compressor.i'm wondering if that was a relief valve at work or i blew someting?after that the clutch would go off/on
very frequintly.thanks again.

Odds are that your compressor seal no longer holds pressurized refrigerant. Once the refrigerant gets low again, the low side pressure becomes so low that the pressure switch shuts off the compressor clutch. The low side pressure quickly rises again, switching on the compressor clutch.

Buy a new or reman compressor, a new expansion valve, a new drier, and a can of A/C system flush. Flush the A/C condenser, evaporator, and hoses, then install all the new parts.

Getting 11 years out of a factory A/C compressor is not easy. Most die before that.
