Default Cold morning blues!!!!!

Hi all, I have a 97 SC2 DOHC it has 97k on the motor/trans. lately when it is cold in the mornings (below 45) it runs lousy, like something is holding it back and it feels rough like it's missing. I ran it with the scanner on it thinking maybe the intake temp sensor was wacky, but it tracked with the ambient temp. I drive an hour to work at mostly highway speeds and it runs fair. when I get in 10 hours later it starts and runs great, very peppy plenty of power. the plugs are new as are the wires, it has a fairly recent CTS and connector, and a new fuel pump/filter. I used regular Bosch copper plugs gapped at .040. Any ideas? it's really getting annoying plus I don't want to possibly be damaging something. Thanks
