Default Hard shifting on Automatic trans

Hi,

I am having problems with my 2000 LS1, after driving for about 15 minutes my car starts to shift hard thru the gears, and the cars looses acceleration. When this happens I turn the car off and then back on and the acceleration is fine again. But,!! Then when you shift from park to drive the engine makes a loud noise and shifts hard into gears. If i turn the car off once again and restart the engine the car is fine.

Sounds like the Valve Body is begining to go bad and/or the Torque Converter going bad.

might be a pressure control solenoid "not sure on spelling" it will cause a bang, and ses lite to come on.

I would lean to the pressure control solenoid as well. Is the SES light coming at all? If so get the codes and let us know what they are.

I was in the car when it acted up. I had my scanner plugged in at the time and no codes came on.

The Trans was acting a little funny after driving around for 15-20 min. At a stop light the car could only get up to 3-5mph max and wouldn't shift out of gear. We pulled into a gas station put the car in Park. The hood was opened and as the car was shifted from Park to Drive the engine rocked back HARD, about a 3-4 inch rock.

Once it was turned off and on it would still do it, then off and on again and it would be fine. That's the scoop on it.

Would high pressure from a bad pressure control solenoid cause it rocking that bad? Thanks for all your help in this!!

Two different people with the same problem or one car with two people posting about it?

What engine is in the car? The 2.2 LT or the 3.0 LT.

Just to be sure. How is the engine running? Has the battery ever been replaced for leaking acid? Is the battery now leaking acid, usually from the positive terminal? Are the battery termnals corroded?

Have you tried moving the engine back and forth to see if there is excessive movement in the engine mounts?

How is the wiring harness to the trans? Good condition? Connected properly?

Any fluid leaks from the trans?

Yeah I had something like what you are having. Whenever I start the car and put it in reverse, it feels like the transmission throws it in reverse so I hear this bang. Mine's an auto 00 SC1.

It's 2 people posting on the same car (amberrose and I) and it's her car. I'll get with her on this tomorrow and I'll check to see if I can push the motor around, I'll check the battery, and wires. She bought it from carmax maybe 2-3 years ago tops. Not saying that's perfect and she doesn't beat the car she just drives her kids around and to work. Oh cars... thanks again.
