Question Info on engine swap needed

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and saturns. I would like to thank you in advance for any advice you may have to offer.

I am trying to help out a friend who's had nothing but bad luck lately and it has not stopped. He has a 2001 Saturn (not sure of model) with a 2.2 engine that threw a rod I need to find an engine to get his car running. I found a 94 saturn with a low miles 1.9 engine for cheap. Would this work in his 2001 ? They are both DOHC 16V motors. If not what years of the 2.2 will work in his '01 ?

Thanks for looking, Jay

Welcome to the Board.

If you know for sure the the engine is a 2.2Lt then the car is an L-series and the the S-series 1.9LT will not work for you at all. You will need to find a 2.2LT out of an L-series. Plug and play no fuss will be one out of the same year of car. Other years will work but may require some external bolt on part swapping.

I have a nice 2.2 complete. That is a reasonably popular engine and you should be able to find one locally. Shipping to your location might be prohibitive. That info should be part of your ID.

Sorry about not having location info in my profile, it's there now. What kind of miles are on the engine you have? How much do you want for it? I shipped an inline 4 cyl. to Montana once, cost about $85 on a pallet. Do you know the weight of the 2.2 ? Could be cause for a road trip
