won't start when hot.

hello evryone.i have a'97 SL with 134,000 miles,manual tranny.love the car.
recently it starts really hard when hot,it takes at least 2-3 trys to get it going.no problems when cold.got new air filter,temp sensor.any ideas?

Check for spark when it is not wanting to start. also check the fuel pressure. 97's are prone to weak/bad fuel pumps. The check valve in the tank leaks back fuel pressure and makes for harder starting as the fuel pressure is not there immediatly.

What I do to compensate for the slow fuel pump is just turn the key on for a second or so before starting.

ok,i took the fuel pump apart and like you said,Ssicarman,it was the check valve that was causing the broblem.bad O-rings prevented it from moving smoothly.once i replaced those it's back to normal.
