hey kids I have a week old 2008 Aura with remote start.
here's my question... i have noticed that when i start the car during the day (light out) the lights by the climate controls don't light up, for example if i hit the rear defrost it turns on but does not light up.
Do you mean when you start the car normally or when you start with the remote starter?
Have you checked closer to see if the indictor lights are on but hard to see in the sunlight? I have noted that the drefrost indicators in the IONs are nearly impossible to see as on in the daylight. Perhaps the Aura is similar?

do you have the auto climate control active? remote start automatically fires up the rear defrost. i am not sure if this is related to the Auto setting of the climate control or not, though. i believe owner's manual outlines this more.
