Default 1998 SC1 Stolen -- Recovered -- Can't start

My 98 SC1 was stolen Saturday morning and has subsequently been recovered (thank god).

I am trying to get it out of the impound/towing yard, and now it won't start. I think it might be related to the Saturn Security system, but I cannot be sure... (I do NOT have the Remote, theives kept that)

When you turn the key, all the accessories appear to work (horn, lights, etc) but there is no fuel pump sound, and the starter will not turn over.

I followed the prescribed saturn manual procedure. (open doors, allow alarm to sound, turn key to run, then to Lock, wait 15 mins) But there is no action. With regards to the alarm sounding, the horn had been replaced and wired directly, so the factory alarm's only telltale sign that it was going off was a Blinking dome light. Now, for some reason, the dome light does not work at all.... So I am not sure that this is a Security system related problem.

Also, the Power Door Locks do not appear to be functioning.

In what little time I had with the car, I checked all the "obvious" culprits (fuses relating to starting/fuel and they all appear ok.

Any Ideas? I am not relishing getting the d@mn thing towed again, as I already paid over $100 to get it out of impound already....

Any thoughts? Is there any way to bypass the security system temporarily so that I can get the car home to work on it further?

i dont think it would be the battery since his horn and lights work

sound like the ground cable running from the starter to the battery is frayed

think about it

horn and lights take alot less power than windows and starters do to run, a battery does not have to be completely dead for the car to not start

I am reasonably sure that the battery is not dead. Headlights, power windows, blinkers all function at full power.

But to be safe I will check that.

If the car was stolen they had to jump start it somehow so check the ignition wiring and such.

Oh yeah and dont forget, they might have fawked up the internals on the key slot as well.

The car was stolen, but it was stolen with the keys. Ignition internals are most likely fine (Visual inspection OK)

Check battery cable tightness. If good then check the small purple wire at the starter for power when the key is turned to start. If power there then make sure that you have power at the large red wire at the starter. If power there then the starter is bad.
