Default 93 SC2 jumped time ... just a quick question please

K I picked up a 93 Saturn SC2 for a couple hundred bucks not long ago and im just getting around to bringing it home now ...

The guy im getting it from said the timing chain slipped and it jumped time. Well might as well bank it bent some valves .... I called a few places yesterday and everyone i talked to to get it fixed wont tell a price range im lookin at really at all .

So my question for everyone is how much as a price range or guesstimate do ya think itll be .... to have the new chain put on, replace the bent valves and the headwork taken care of?

I dont wanna drop it off and come back a week later to a insane unexpected bill ....just wanna be a lil prepared is all.

Thanks guys

Default Recent pricing

A month and a half ago I replaced timing belt, tensioner and guides before any damage was done to any valves and I was pretty happy to walk away for $1200.00.

That is in Calgary, Alberta, Canada where shop rates are running around $75/hr (local shop rate not stealership).

so prolly like $500 US then considering the exchange rate maybe? and then the shop i plan to get it done (in 3-4 weeks when he finally gets a spot in his shop to start it cause he is backed up) his shop rates are pretty good and also he is about the only mechanic i trust anywhere around period. Im hoping somewhere in the $500 range at least and not to run in a larger bill.

He replaced the timing set and did a few other small repairs as well since it was there for me on a previous car about 2 years ago for me for like $125 parts included

so im keeping my fingers crossed ...lol
