Well I just did a full motor swap in my 94. You should have no problem using your trans. That is if you have a manual. If you have auto, then you would need to change it cuz of the shift points and stuff. You don't really have to change the cluster, but it helps with rpms and stuff cuz you can rev it higher. I think you will also need a dohc pcm and wiring harness. I'm not too keen on the 95s though since they are sorta one of kind. But thats the stuff I needed.

Default swap

Genie is your car an auto or manual? People find with turbo the sl1 trans is a better choice. For an auto not to sure but I would say just do the head swap and pcm.

Scotty when you did your swap how did you go about it? Im gonna be doing mine when I get some time. I have heard some horror stories. I just disconnected the pcm from the dohc car. removed the fender routed the harness out disconnected a couple grounds from the body, the battery and removed the clip from the bottom of the outside fuse box. thats it removed the engine with the harness still attached.

I would put the engine back in the car with the harness still attached too. It's much easier plugging in sensors when you can see around the whole engine than having to feel where things plug into and trying to squeeze you hand into places where it doesnt like to fit.

Sorry to jump in here guys...but my car is a Manual.....I make sure to buy manuals when I buy my cars.

So i will need to change the PCM....i've heard that 95s are the odd ball and you don;t have to change the PCM???

See that is one thing I'm not too sure about. I'm not really sure how the 95 works. I went from the TBI to multi port injection, so I needed to change all that stuff so the injectors would work. But your tranny will work fine.

I will have to look into it...i know i have Multiport....cause i don;t have Throttle Body Injection......i'm almost positive...i'm going to go outside and double check tho.....but i'm pretty sure. it is multi port....i am questioning myself on it tho.....but i wil double check all the manuals and stuff

Edit: IT IS SO MULTI-PORT, lol

Not 100% sure but I suspect that you will need to due to the probable difference in the injectors???? You also need to relize that there is a difference between the pistons in the DOHC and the SOHC. What you will get is an almost DOHC power engine.
I suspect that the best way to go if you want more power would be to do a complete swap to DOHC. Pull everything from a donor car including the PCM and wiring harness.
