| About to dyno car I am going to be dyno'ing my 97 sl2 either this friday or next monday and i was needing to know if this could hurt my diff. pin since i hear so many problems with them. Or could i possibly hurt someting else in my engine or tranny? Its the type of dyno that has 2600 lb rollers not water resisted.

| nah it doesnt look like it jolts too bad but u get it up to 50mph u hold it there for a sec then u give it WOT and the dyno begins, so could that hurt it? Also i was thinking since the car is not actually moving it should just simulate the weight of the car almost right?

| They brought a portable dyno into work yesterday for employees to test their cars for free. One guy had a twin turbo 2004 Corvette that he said put out 600HP. He only got up to 400HP before the car started making funny noises and poured out smoke. I'd hate to think what that cost him. Fortunately (or unfortunately), both of my Satty's are stock and have high miles so I didn't run them. The lowest output was a guy with an 89 cavalier who maxed out at 67HP. I probably could have beat that. :P

| It won't hurt the car at all. The point of the dyno is to see the amount of torque and horsepower you can put down, not how fast you can throw your pin. |

| The diff pin part of the diferential does not come into play as long as both front wheels are going the same speed. It is when the front tires are moving at different speeds (like cornering) that the diferential action of the diff starts to come into play.

| Well got to dyno my ride and im puttin a whopping 100hp and 110 torque to the wheels. But for some reason the number dont seem right. Do dyno's have to be calibrated or anything?
