Default Alarm is disabled and no chirp ??

The Lock, Unlock, and Trunk on my keyless entry remote works but the alarm seems to have been disabled by the previous owner and the car doesnt honk/chirp either.

Anyone know how to enable the alarm or make it chirp?

Default Does the overhead light work?

If the door is open, does the light come on? Check the door switches.

Could not verify the comment posted above, but I can tell you I had the exact same problem you describe above (on the 99 SW2), and the problem turned out to be the passenger side door switch.

Apparently, the alarm will not arm with the door open, and if the switch never opens then everything else works (locks, trunk or hatch, panic button) but the alarm chirp will not sound.

Good luck.

Here's how you do it.

Open the driver's door. keep it open.

Hit Lock, Unlock, Lock within 2 seconds.

Make sure you do that very quickly

Light should turn off.

Start ignition. then kill it.

jump out, and close all doors.

Arm it.

If that doesn't help, lemme know.

Factory keyless entry/alarm systems did not come with red alarm lights or alarm horns. The factory system uses the car horn to chirp.

thanks. Im gonna try that and see if it works for me.
btw, I called the dealership and ask how to reactive the alarm and told me that theres a switch somewhere in the drivers side kick panel. But I cant seem to find any switch at all unless its really really hidden.

See above again.
The 1996 model year did not have any FACTORY alarm lights or switches on the drivers kick panels or anywhere else. It sounds very much like you have an aftermarket alarm system in your car.
