Default Backup lights

Sorry if this has been posted before, I tried the search and came up with nothing.
I have a 95 SC2 and the backup lights quit working, the bulbs and fuse check OK. Any ideas where to check next? Has someone else had this problem?
Thanks,
Mick

Stick or auto?? If it's stick, I had the same thing happen when I got my SC2. There's a switch on the top of the transmission that controls this. The contact in the switch breaks. I simply went to the boneyard, got one one out of the first Saturn I came to, did the swap and lights worked again.

Yea it's a stick.
How difficult is it to swap?

Pretty easy to get to. It's located on top of the transmission. You may have to take the air intake hose off. I simply, unplugged it (verified that it was the right switch), found the right size socket and unscrewed it. Sorry I can't remember what is the correct size.

You can check if this is your problem by putting the car in reverse (not running, wheels secured) and taking a DVOM meter and checking for cont across the switch. No cont means it's bad. Good luck.

Don't know about junkyards in your area, but we have plenty Saturns in junkyards here and I think they only charged me a few bucks for the part. Simple.

I would be more worried about idiot people who cant see you backing up than a cop giving you a ticket. After almost being mowed down on foot by a lady reversing on a 1-way street around a blind corner of a building and having a lady reverse right out into my driving path in broad daylight without looking until she was facing me, I take no chances.
