Default Battery light flickers at idle

My '92 SL1 suffered a complete electrical failure. Recharged battery held charge, so replaced alternator. Now, at idle, the battery light flickers but goes out when rpm picks up. The manual doesn't address this problem. Is it the regulator? Battery and alternator connections are all tight. The regulator connector is tight but the retaining clip will not stay closed. Any ideas? BTW, the book says to remove the power steering pump and fender well liner to get at the alternator. Not necessary. It is a cinch to remove the alternator from underneath the car.

did you check your fuseable link, it could be broken in side the wire.

Check connections and cables. You may have just gotten a bad alternator though.
