Default Bogging down, but only sometimes

Its wierd. My cat will bog down random times. Its like the AC is on, when its not. it taked forever to get to 3k in first gear, and is slow up to redline. other times, when its running normal, its very quick thru 1st gear all the way round the rpm's, which, i like of corse.

are there any common problems with saturns and doing this? anything i can fix?

do you notice anything different from one time to another aside from the lack of power? You mentioned the cat - why do you suspect problems with the cat?

Well, when you have the bogging issues, do you notice it at idle too?

Actually, it's funny you mention the cat. Right now I'm having a similar problem, but not quite as bad. Seems to be when the car is warmed up.

I went thru the normal stuff for tune-up for emissions. When the car failed emissions, I replaced the cat. When I did, I found the original cat in the car to be completely blown out. One chunk of the material still in the cat and the rest went down the exhaust, a few smaller pieces in the resonator. I took the pieces out of the resonator, but I haven't replaced the muffler. I suspect when I do, I'll find a lot more cat material in there cloggin' up the works.

Just a thought.
