Default Break in period and Oil weight?

What is the best oil weight to use in my new built motor after the 500 miles break in? And do you think 500 miles is enough for my motor to be ran at the track?

Thanks

You will have no problem running 5W30. Factory recommended oil weight is 5W30.

ok, i have a quick question! i read a post awhile back and it said something about cars that burn oil should run either a straight 40 weight and during the summer to run 10w40? or is that vice versus? I burn about 1-2 quarts by the time my next oil change is due!!! I just changed my pcv valve and won't be driving the car for another week or so but i was wondering if this sounds right or not. I am currently running Valvoline DuraBlend 5w30. what is your thoughts on this?

500 miles is more than enough to break in an engine. if you haven't been burning oil and everything has been running fine, then there's no reason why you can't take your car to the track. use the factory recommended 5w30 (synthetic if you want to).
