Default Broken Part

2000 SL2 Standard Engine Swap:

When I took the slave cylinder off of the transmission, this little push rod sort of thing was broken. My avatar is a drawing of it. What is this thing, and any idea if I could buy one new or junk yard without buying the entire slave assembly (which I did last year for ~$250)? Thanks.

The metal rod or the plastic nose piece with straps. If the rod you have problems. If the plastic nose piece starps then you have no problem. The straps are supposed to break free the first time the clutch pedal is pushed down. You can get a replacement nose piece from Saturn with out getting the master slave assm.
If you are careful you can get the rod back into the clutch fork arm but if not careful or lucky the rod will fall into the bell housing and then you get to go fishing. If you are not sure of being able to do it then get a replacement piece.
