Default Camshaft position sensor

I have a 1999 Saturn sedan SL1. It has about 70K miles on it and my service engine light light turned on. I used the OBD 2 scan tool to find out what was wrong. It read PO341 Camshaft Position sensor A - B 1CKT RANGE/Perf. ?????? What does this mean? Is it easy to fix? Should I keep driving?

I would appreciate any feedback.

I'm pretty sure that it either means:
1. The camshaft timing has shifted, causing your car to make more bad stuff than it should.
2. The cam position sensor, or the link between the sensor and ECU is broken. I'm not sure what one costs.

You car does not have a camshaft pos sensor! try to find it in the haynes book or go to a saturn dealership and ask them to look up the part number if you dont believe me. That code is caused by your ign coils being corroded. clean them and the insides of your plug wires. then go to autozone and have them erase the code. This happens to me about 2 times a year. simple fix.

My 98 is having the same issue. I just replaced the wires and plugs and now the service engine light is coming on and off intermittently. I pulled codes and got the 0341 cam shaft code. The coil bung for the number one cylinder was coroded and cleaned, but I am still getting the code. The saturn dealership mechanic didn't even have an idea what could be wrong. ANy other ideas?!?!?!?!

Welcome to the Board.

Something on the 1-4 cylinder firing circuit is causing the code. Double check the wires, coils and plugs. If all are ok check the coil hold down bolts for corrosion. From there anything that may cause a misfire in any part of the ignition system shgould be checked. After market plug wires? Try Saturn ones. The one four wires come in a paired set now due to the cam sensor concerns.
