Default Changing Alternator


How hard of a job is it to change an alternator on an sl1 1997 automatic? Is it a DIY job? Thanks

it can be a DIY....but bein that its cold out now id suggest takin it to a garage to get it done. to get to the alternator you have to reach thru the passenger wheel well and disconnect everything to make it the eaiest. now would be the time to change the belt too if it needs it. i got an alternator for i think $100 and had meinike install it and a belt for like $130.....the mechanic said it was a total ***** to do

Yeh, I did mine myself too. It took me forever, but it got done.

takes me 30 min to take mine out and put it back, the top one sucks because you have to access it from the top. get a hayes manual, it will help for years to come!
