Default Clutch problems

Hey I put a new motor in my car... so I put a new clutch in too.. Well I put everything together and the clutch wont work.. Will go into gear with car not running or if you start it in gear it will roll.. Problem is I have replaced the slave cylinder master cylinder combo kit that has the fluid already in it. I have taken the transmission out three times to realign and still nothing.. So I took it apart again and took the clutch back and got another one.. Put it back together and still nothing? Anyone have a clue what I could be doing wrong? Thanks

Year and model?

Does the pedal feel normal?

If the car wants to roll in gear even with the clutch pedal down something is not disengaging the engine from the trans. Is the clutch disc in the right way? As in the correct side of the disc facing the flywheel?

remove the clutch actuator and make sure it's centered in the transmission..there's a little rod with a cap on it, that's what you want to center. That is most likely your problem right there. I've ran into the same situation.

The part i painted red is what you need to make sure is centered. When new it is held in the center, when used (if reused, or it's broken the new ties down) you'll have to manually center it yourself. Make sure no one pushes on the pedal when you're trying to get it in.

I think that will solve your problem though.

Well I figured it out.. I am a dumb ass that pays to much attention to the manuals torque specs 17 lbs isnt close to enough.. The pressure plate wasnt tightened down enough.. Fixed the problem though... Oh but I am getting just a tad bit of grinding when I go to third gear? Time for New Cables? Works fine if you acclerate a little goes right in... What do you think?

Tranny. You might need to replace the whole tranny again

Glad that you got it fixed and thanks for the update.

If the grinding was for all of the gears I might suspect a a cable or clutch mechanical problem. If it is only for third gear then you may have a syncro assembly for third getting worn and not doing its job properly.
