at the top of the technical issues page there is a topic called "List of ALL OBD-II DTC Error Codes for GM" .... vehicleshttp://www.saturnspot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14252

in the first post in that topic there is a link to.....
http://www.domesticracingconcepts.co...c_frameset.htm

on that site there is a thing that says....

Default code 74

Check it out.

There was probably too much difference in range of temp between the ECT sensor and the TFT (trans fluid temp) sensor causing this code.

Thank you KKC532 for getting that link. My at home OBD1 sources have dried up on me. This code usually indicates that there is to much of a temp difference between the engine PCM coolant temp sensor and the auto trans coolant temp sensor. Tha normal cause is the PCM sensor being out of range. Is the code still coming up? If it is and they repalced the PCM coolant temp sensor already then the I would suspect a corroded connector for the sensor not allowing the proper voltage signal through to the PCM.
