i have a 1999 sl2 and the coolant low light comes on and flashes and the tank is full. could anyone tell me if this is caused by a bad sensor or loose connection. and where is this sensor so i can check. anything would be helpful

sensor may be shot. I know on my first gen that if the light flashes that simply means more coolant is needed, if it stays on though, that means there is something else wrong with the system.

when the light is on solid in means the coolant is low. the light flashing can indicate a bad electrical connection on the sensor, or your almost out of fluid and its sloshing around to the point that it will trip the sensor

Actually the low coolant sensors rarely fail. You must replace the coolant resevoir tank to replace the sensor. The good news is you probably don't. You can drain out the coolant (about 1 gallon will do no need to drain all of it) remove teh resevoir tank and clean it out using good ole dishsoap and water or (better) Castrol super clean and water followed by several clean water rinses. You will hear the sensor's float rattling around inside the tank but MAKE NO ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE SENSOR! After it's clean, put it back on and top up the coolant, 99 times out of 100 this will fix you right up for just some time and a little "soap" and water.

No, when the light is blinking it means coolant is low. I believe when its on solid it means the car is too hot.
