engine and PCM swapping craziness..

Heres the story, i have a 1992 sl-2, twin cam, auto trans. Ok, the engine and trans were both messed up, SO, i bought a 1993 engine trans, and also bought the 1993 PCM because supposedly the crank reluctor ring on the 1993 engine is different than the 1992 as you all know. well, i installed everything and got it running, drove it and all, everything seemed ok, trans shifted slightly erratic, but nothing big. anyways, i tried running it with the original 1992 PCM and it runs NO DIFFERENT at all, not ata ll, and the trans acts better also, now, with the 1992 PCM running the 1993 engine, the timing is supposed to be retarded, but it sure doesnt act any different at all, just shifts better. Whats the deal?

if its running better then id say keep it in, the early trannys had MANY diffrent changes to the autos, most likely your encountering problems with the pcm you bought not working right with the tranny. but since it seems to run fine with the old pcm id say go head and use it.
