Default Engine swap yet again....

Ok, here's the deal...
The engine swap from my 96' SL2 to my99' SC2 is going as planned. The only hitch is that I need to know what computer to use for the 96' engine because I don't know anything about if the 96' computer will support the digital Odometer/Tripometer in the 99'. Also would the 99' computer be able to manage the 96' engine properly considering that the 99' engine has different head charateristics and such. Also, which repair manual would be the most reliable, accurate, and detailed for said operation, the Chilton's or the Haynes?

I would swap in the '96 SL2 ECU. Chilton's seems to be the better manual; Haynes tends to leave more stuff out (as does chilton's, but haynes leaves more out than the other).

Chilton's has more info, but personally I think that Haynes is a bit more user-friendly.
