| Engine/Transmission Swap...buying engine tonight! Help fast Alright...I've done a bit of searching, but I still have a few questions, and it's easier to ask than to tear the internet apart.
Right now, I have a 2000 SC1 5 speed. The transmission casing is cracked, and I will likely need a new one. As long as I have the car that far apart, I want to do the DOHC swap i've been hearing so much about.
A friend of my father's is concerned that none of the sensors will match up. The engine I am looking at is out of a 2002 SC2 Automatic. I figured this would be about as clean as a swap as you could get. Am I correct?
I'm going to need a new gauge cluster, correct? The miles for the digital odometer are stored elsewhere, so that shouldn't be a problem.
So I'm going to buy a DOHC engine, and a DOHC transmission (Haven't found one yet). Besides a gauge cluster, what else am I going to need to make this all work out? Are the headers interchangeable? Computer?
I have seen the ultimate compatibilty thread on turbosaturns.net. |

| You shouldn't need the cluster. THe SOHC should work. (haven't tried or heard of anyone that did sooooo)
Off the top of my head:
Engine, trans, engine wiring harness, PCM, coolant hoses to the head, intake plumbing, PS pump--the DOHC uses a varible effort pump.

| Only thing with the cluster is that it will still show you the SOHC redline, while the DOHC redline is higher. Just find out what that is, and you'll be fine. If you want to do aftermarket gauges, though, they're easier to find for the DOHC cluster. |

| I had aftermarket gauges in both my cars... 94 SC2, and this one. The speedometer will correctly display speed with the 110 MPH speedo?
SOHC Redline - 5500
DOHC Redline - 6000, I think. It's been a while.
I lost the auction I was bidding on because we both bid $575, but he got his in a second before I did
So, the auction I am currently looking at is a 2000 DOHC engine with 57k miles. Comes with manifold and oil pan. My car only has 44k miles...Is this a good idea? The buy it now is set at $412.50...probably about $200 to ship, though. What do you think? |

| 45,7XX miles on the SOHC. Car is not being driven as of right now...obviously not wise with current tranny conditions.
I was planning on selling it to help defer the cost of the DOHC. Interested? |

| Email me and give me an idea what you would need. If you can crate it, I can arrange the shipping through my business. |

| Mmmm...not sure if it would or not.
However, i'm pretty sure I may be keeping the engine, as finances are going to be tight, and a DOHC swap for a college student is not a very good plan.
I do need a new transmission. Can I get the DOHC transmission to make my car a little quicker? Someone mentioned running the SOHC tranny with the DOHC engine..does it work the other way around? |

| You can use either tranny - they're swappable. it won't make you much quicker, and it'll cut into your fuel economy, but it's doable. |
