Ok, 92 SL, manual, no ps

Problem: Rattling heard from both front wheels going over bumps (each individually heard). No problem really going up a speed bump only when coming down.

Replaced: Struts, strut mounts, steering rack.

No sounds when turning. Rides smooth on smooth pavement.

Ideas greatly appreciated.

94 SL1 w/ ps 5spd. Had the same rattling in my front wheels. I got my struts, the mouns, and boots replaced. They didnt put one on right and it came up and dented my hood, replaced for free and the hood was repainted for free costing them a $600 ****up. Same results as you.

Hmm, thats odd, from doing them myself, I don't see how they could be put on that poorly.

Maybe the top mount nut isn't tight enough. The one that turns with the allen wrench opening when tightened????
