Default Frozen TB

Ok so 6am; I jump in my car to get some cigarettes. I don't let it warm up at all, try to give it some gas and the gas peddle is stiff (happens all the time at work) so I stomp on it and it gets stuck open full throttle. Any kind of lubricant or something I can put on the throttle body to prevent this from happening?

I don’t like getting out of my car in the middle of the road to manually close my throttle body to let my car warm up. I hate winter!!

What year/make car??

There's supposed to be coolant running to the throttle body to keep it from 'freezing'. Make sure that's installed properly. Of course, make sure the blades are clean.

2002 sc1, no coolant running through it that I know of, but I don't know too much about this car since I have only had it for a few months and I am still in the process of breaking it....

Oh.. I'm not as familiar with the 2002. But I know on my car, and many other GM cars that I've seen have a coolant line running to the throttle body. Trace them all to see if any go back to the cooling system. Also make sure your throttle cable isn't kinked. Have you done any mods to the car?? Even the floor mat can get it stuck open.

Is it "clean enough to eat off of" on both sides? The side facing out tends to be shiney clean, while the other side tends to have all kinds of nasty buildup, and it's fairly common for the buildup to cause the plate to stick.

actually, I routinely have to jump in my car and drive it without letting it warm up as I answer EMS calls from home..

Ive never had a problem with a stuck full throttle, other then the time the floor mat got stuck in the pedal.

Id vote for the dirty side or a cable sticking.

oh, and ill move this to technical too.

Have you been doing a lot of short trips lately? Is there a lot of moisture in the engine? Remove the intake tubing to see if you have water in it. Is the PCV valve in good shape not clogged?
If you have a clogged up non functioning PCV valve then the engine may not be able to get condensation out of the engine properly and it is building up and the engine is pressurizing and forcing the moisture through the throttle body icing it up and causing the throttle plate to stick. If the engine warms up enough to the point that the coolant flowing through the intake warms the throttle body the icing will go away until the engine is frozen again.

Possible solutions, replace the PCV valve with a new OEM one. Do a good long trip with the car to heat the engine up for a long time to heat out the condensation in the engine.
