Default fuel gauge

92 saturn sl1 sohc

when I first got my saturn the fuel guage would hold steady at a certain

spot and then slowly, ever so slowly trickle down towards the empty mark.

Now when I hit a bump or go down a downgrade the arm on the guage shifts real quick like.

Anyone recommend a fix?

My gauge can't make up its mind either. When I parked the car last night it was well on the front side of 1/2 tank and I thought "wow I'm gona get good mileage this tank" when I get in it this morning.....well its below 1/2 tank. It also changes with quick starts and stops which is normal....but then it stays there like I lost fuel....

The fuel sending unit is probably going bad.
