Default fuel question

hi, my 96 sl2 with 70k miles and it's an automatic will randomly start to shake from lack of power it feels like and will sputter when coming to a stop and will die like the rpm will bounce around between 300 and 600 and then just die. but then u can start it up and pus h the gas a little and it is like nothing has happened. and no codes. and i already tried replacing the egr valve and 2 mechincs said i dunno while one thinks it could be the the fuel filter/sock. but the only thing i dont see about that is that it only does it sometimes like once a week. and also one time when it was doing this i was in a parking lot driving aroound to try to get a ses light to come one and it could not but i guess from all the reving to keep it alive did something because out of nowhere it stopped acting up and returned to normal.
