my 96 sl2 has a chime blowing fuse problem i read in my hanes book that all but 96 s series have a 10 amp fuse for there chime but not the 96 which have a 5 amp one. now would i be able to put a 10 in there and not worry since other ones have a 10 amp 1?

read the inside of the fuse cover and it will tell you what it is

Guys, he knows which fuse he needs, he's asking why.

Get a multimeter, and measure the draw across the fuse. If it's something like 6A, then you need to find out why...

My guess is that it would be infinite current, meaning there's a short somewhere, and that's why you keep blowing them.

No ****ing ****, sherlock. Sometimes, there's an explanation beyond what the manual says. He's asking why his model is different, not what the back of the fuse cover says.

If the proper rated fuse is blowing you need to find out what is causing it to do so. The 10 amp will obviously go in. If it does not blow right away you would likely not have any problems right away but the wiring will tend to get hot due to higher than normal current draw. Eventually you will let the smoke out. Then you will have problems.

Any after market stuff installed in the car? Especially recently? Perhaps a stereo?

i heard you could tap into the ciggereate light but i have my strobe lights tapping of on it now.

what if i disconnect the orange wire from my adaptor that says that it is for the chime. what will happen?
