Default Having fluctuating idle and stalling-93 Saturn SL1

1993 Saturn SL1 approx. 125,000 miles, manual

Problems: Fluctuating idle (200-4000 rpm), stalling when stopped, very poor gas mileage (usually 240 miles to the tank, now only 100 miles), check engine light comes on when car is at 25 mph and below

Recent work: Replaced idle control motor, new spark plugs, engine coolant temperature sensor, intake manifold gasket, PCV valve, air filter, and map sensor

The MAP sensor is the newest replacement and the computer code is 33 (according to the mechanic that means the MAP sensor). I am still having idle problems and engine light come on. Does anyone know what else could be wrong?

Thanks,
Salina

Welcome to the board.

I would say the coolant temp sensor but you have done that already. Have you checked the connector for it to see if it is corroded and sending skewed signals to the PCM? The correct sensor was replaced? The two wire one? Any vacuum leaks? The MAP code could be due to the wonky idle.
Is the currect code the code 33 (there will be a code because of the SES light).

AHA! Now I've nailed it down! The ECT sensor is the two wire, and the one wire thing is for the fan, right?
