Default Heating/cooling system question.

Does anyone know if there's a vacuum or some other type of switch in our cooling systems that would prevent me from using a circulating type of block heater?

I was going to get one that just hooked into the lower rad hose, but it doesn't sit at enough of an angle to allow convective currents to carry the heated coolant through the engine. The circulating one will force the coolant through the whole system, keeping my engine nice and toasty when the temp. drops down to -35 next month.

Thermostat is in the lower rad hose (in the housing of course) and it would block the flow of coolant into the block with the lower rad hose one. The circulating one should work if you get one of the better ones. Not sure how much time and trouble it would be to get it set up into the heater hose lines. But at what point and expense is it worth getting the correct one from Saturn?

Well, I found a good place to mount it. Right over top of the lower rad hose you got that heater hose. Looks like a good spot.

I kind of thought the thermostat bypass would allow the coolant to flow enough to make things happen.

The reason I won't go to Saturn is that my cost (with discount) is $72 for the official part. I can get the circulation heater for around $30. That is, of course, unless you have even cheaper access to Saturn parts than I do, and you could send me one.

Your price is the same as what I can get it for. You should have stuck with the older block, 47$ only.

I meant for the replacement one. Joey did you well with the newer engine, just forgot that important Florida BBQ starter.

Yeah, Joe tells me he's never even [i]seen]/i] a Saturn block heater. Not at all odd, I suppose.
