Default Help! Shifter disconnected from cable. 98 sl2

I know exactly what is wrong with my car but I can't find the part anywhere. This shoulder joint that connect my shift cable to my shifter has broken. Since it is plastic I know it wouldn't last forever. Saturn only sells the complete cable set. I only need the little plastic piece that slips over the ball. any ideas? Thank you for your time!

Someone recently posted this same question, and I stated they'd be best off pulling the part from a salvage yard. However someone else mentioned that they don't believe the part is serviceable so you may have to get the complete cable either from a yard or from the dealer.

it is a very simple part. Just a plactic cover that slips over the ball join to hold the ring at the end of the shift cable on. Looks as if it could be universal among many cars and household electonics! Thanks for the input guys!

yeah we all WISH the grommet was common! saturn only sells the cables complete at around 250+ a POP! ouch.
luckily they all interchange, in 00 they redsigned them slightyl but even those bolt right in perfectly (we always send the latest model part that will fit your car) DO NOT ATTEMPT to remove just the grommet and pop it in, allthough some of us have done it, its made to break when it comes out YOU CAN AND MOST LIKELY WILL RUIN the cables if you try and pop the grommet out alone.
i just took in a TON of 00-02 cars and many others, so i have lots of nice low mileage ones (average life span is about 10 years so your in rpetty good shape getting a used set, if you dont do dumb crap like speed shifting and abusing your car they will last plenty long) for spot members they are 60.00 which is more then the usual 10% off, normally they are 75.00, you get a one year warranty, drop me a line, well; take care of you. thanks! Joey
ps, either myself tommy, wolf or one of the members that have replaced the cables will be happy to assist with tech advice, thanks, Joey from 6th planet
